I had this beer on-tap at the brewery in a clear solo cup. The version I had was listed as a “chocolate vanilla milk stout” and clocked in at a solid 8% ABV.
Appearance: dark, dark brown hue, with a layer of tan foam atop that leaves a good lace on the cup.
Smell: toasty and a bit nutty with some ashy roast. More like a porter than a milk stout, to my mind. Not bad, though.
Taste: sweet and malty, as you might expect, with some nice roasty character and a pretty balanced dose of chocolate and vanilla. It’s a bit astringent, which doesn’t quite work with a milk stout, but otherwise not bad at all.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a pretty smooth creaminess. I like it.
Overall: a perfectly cromulent vanilla milk stout, although it’s a little astringent and could be a bit better balanced in this area.
