Poured from a growler into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a medium to dark orange-red with a quarter finger light khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, red berries, graham cracker and faint citrus; mildly spicy. Flavor is biscuit malt, raspberry, mild cranberry, graham cracker and a hint of citrus. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. An interesting take on a winter ale; listed here as a winter warmer because of the name and description, but basically a red ale ale with some faint spice notes (brewer said it is not spiced, so maybe some of the spiciness I'm tasting is due to expectation. Although not typical of most local winter warmers, it is pleasant and full flavored with a nice malty aftertaste without the tart character of many red ales. I liked this cheerful winter ale.
