This was another beer that I picked up at the Total Wine in Baton Rouge, Louisiana when I was down that way not too long ago. Never had anything from The Seventh Tap before and even though this wasn't a typical Vienna Lager, this was on par with the likes of Dos Equis as it was lighter in hue and in taste, but a bit more full-bodied and not the least bit watered down!
Enjoyed the appearance to this beer as it was golden and bubbly, with lots of the latter coming up throughout my time with this. The head was full and slow to settle as it never fully went away, as a nice amount of rocky lacing stuck around throughout my pint glass. Not much of an aroma to this with just malt and adjunct filling the quiet nose. Thankfully, the taste was better with bread, cereal, and corn being in equal proportion to each other as the taste was filling, a bit sticky, and slightly sweet. Plenty of carbonation kept this from being too weighted down as there were hints of a European Lager and an Amber that fully emerged once this completely warmed up.
Lots of wheat, floral, elderflower, and grassy notes in the aftertaste as the alcohol was a non-factor here. The Noble Hops helped keep this true to form although the aftertaste almost required me to find a chaser of water to fully get this down. Canned on 1/3 of last year, this held up well in appearance but felt a bit skunked, as I would have preferred a newer can. Regardless, this was enjoyable and easy to quaff as it was a nice take on a less-than-common style!
