Clear golden color, white head. Aroma has sweet, grainy notes and a hint of honey. Taste follows with sweet malt, generic noble hop profile, light astringent hop bitterness on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Mediocre helles.

Picked up in a gas station in southern Bavaria, the standard brown half liter bottle sports a gold and white label featuring a grenadier waving a flag bearing the name of the brewery. Purity law applies, of course. Best before 7/13/07, I opened it on 4/29/07.
Clear, slightly pale gold under a one finger white head that fades fairly slowly to film and collar, but can't seem to muster more than a couple spots of lace. Nice smooth grain malt nose without any adjuncts or distractions - just barley. Quite prickly and fairly light mouth. Very good rendition of the style. Lots of grainy malt to open, smooth but not sweet. The hops are subtle but strong, slightly bitter with a strong spicey undertone. The aftertaste is dry and fairly short-lived. Very enjoyable and a classic for the style.
