Solidly amber and crystal clear. Large, lingering three-finger head from a fairly violent pour from the can. (I did this because I never heard a release of carbonation when opening the can). The head sticks around, though, and leaves some chunky lacing on the glass.
Excellent, lightly toasted malt aroma on the first smell--very British. Matches the color.
Well-balanced with a solid malty base. Again, the flavor up front is very British with lots of deeper crystal malt and other toasty elements. The hop profile is definitely west coast. It's not soft like the English style, but with the malt coming through even in the swallow, this is a complex and tasty beer.
Overall, I'm stunned. I needed to add this brewery to rate the beer. So, I expected a middle of the road offering (at best). The smell and flavor profile puts this IPA toward the very top of my favorites. I imagine that it will be nearly impossible to get unless you live in Quebec, Canada. C'est domage!!!!
