Had Ellvis poured from 12-oz. can, no date, into Willi Becher.
Pours at first apparently black but when actually very deep, murky brown, with (banana?) floaties, and 1/2-finger very light-tan head, which dissipates to a persistent ring and partial film, pulling only a little sketchy lace down the glass. Aromas of peanut butter, mild sweet malt and a little banana off pour, with the banana aroma continuing and growing as warms, but not too much, along with a little bitter herbal aroma, and finally some mild roast malt aroma, to balance. On tasting, a little carbonation boosts mild roast malts and a lot of sweet peanut butter up front, over a wonderfully creamy body, with nicely bitter malts arriving, accompanied by some bitter herbal hop bite, before a little sweet malt joins for a pleasantly balanced finish.
One ugly, different, but ultimately tasty beer--rather like "Ellvis's" favorite sandwich.
