Had Riddle Dance poured from pint can, hand-filled to go at Puff Belly's brewpub, D'Iberville, into nonic pint.
Pours absolutely black with 1-finger tan head, with good retention, dissipating to a persistent ring, leaving scattered lace down the glass. Big aroma of chocolate and mild roast coffee off pour, which continues allowing little else to show. Begins with mild carbonation in a smooth body, which is lighter than expected from the color, and sweet fruit, then chocolate and mild roast coffee, finished with just a bit of hop, mild roast malt and coffee bite, to lessen the sweetness.
Mocha-like in aroma, and in its overall sweetness, although the body is light enough for it to remain seriously drinkable, rather than sliding into the dessert beer category. Nice Mocha Stout.
