Had on tap at the brewery.
On arrival a fine off white 2 finger head was present on top of a slightly darker than gold body. Carbonation is lazy but very present. Some very nice lacing.
Aroma is very fermented with a nice big dose of noble hops. I'm not sure what is is but there is a bit of an odd lager off note in there.aybe DMS? It's not too bad but I've smelled this in cheaper lagers before.
Taste carries a bit of that lager offness on the very front. I'm not sure what happened here it's really not bad but I expected better from them. Their yeast strain which I do enjoy is present here with a distinct sweetness that works well with the relatively sweet malts In this beer. There is also a nice dose of bitter and herbal hops.
Feel is nice and smooth and the head does a lot of heavy lifting on this one. Despite the occasional off notes, this feels good. Drinkable and refreshing and if you ignore the smell.
Overall I wish this was better. It tastes like a slightly maltier version of their maibock with some unfortunate off flavors. If this was cleaned up and made just a touch darker this would be very good, but not quite here.
