Had on tap at the brewery
On arrival 1 finger of light khaki fine head were present with an almost creamy look and very good retention. The body is a dark brown just shy of black that let's some light through. Some almost guinness like lacing forms after a couple sips.
Aroma is lightly chocolatey and sweet with a touch of sweet coffee. Some English ale yeast mixes with the roasty sweet notes to make an almost toffee like flavor with a hint of dates.
Taste is more bready than a stout with some nice choclatey dark bread notes coming through strongly. Super smooth taste with a touch of sweetness and dark malty notes with a touch of roast. Very slight roast bitterness comes through but it isn't intense making this mostly sweet and malty in a good way.
The feel is very smooth without being too big. There is a dryness that creeps in for the longer finish. Makes it drinkable and not too heavy, without coming off as light. Super balanced.
Overall I really like this beer. It was one of the first beers I had from here, but I never reviewed it and they stopped making it until now. This tastes like a porter and is actually quite different from their stout which I greatly appreciate.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
