Pint on draft at JR Maxwell's in Bath, Maine, for whom Geary's brews this beer exclusively.
Appearance: Pours a clear gold with a huge soapy head that recedes to a quarter inch quickly. Heavy film left behind on glass. Well carbonated.
Aroma: Prickly hops, apricots, some sugar, grass.
Taste: Follows nose. Has kind of a candied fruit taste reminiscent of apricots, mangos and citrus fruits. Some hops. Grassy bite and a little bit of malt sweetness on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Easy on the palate. Sessionable.
Overall: Pretty decent "house beer" type offering. Some of Geary's "brewed exclusively for ..." type offerings are so similar that's it not clear that they aren't all the same beer. This one stands out, though, as a solid hoppy pale ale.
