very light but also very exciting blonde ale from this tiny but mighty little brew house. impressively ambitious beers happening here, and we liked all we got to try. this one is a lightly hazy minimal bodied blonde thats quite hoppy and also spiked with fresh mint, not sure i have seen that in this style before, but rather than making it like a breath mint it makes it herbal and clean, almost a cooling menthol type exhale, subtle as the mint really is, that defines it and makes it especially refreshing, a surprising twist in an otherwise basic brew, dosed so delicately that it could be missed if you didnt know, really smart proportions here, the mint sort of seems to just fit right in with hops on the back end. a little dull in its is luster and just a bit of cloudiness to it, sandy yellow beer, fizzy as can be and high headed, feels almost bottle conditioned to me too, high effervescence and definitive dryness. the nose is hops before mint but it does kind of all hit at once, meyer lemon and green tea notes, some bitterness, at least for the style, and then the herbal brightness, fresh is indeed a cool name for this. the flavor is about the same, all the excitement comes late, and i found this thirst quenching and clever overall. the ferment is a little odd, like i get some more yeast character than should probably be here, even slightly estery, a touch astringent at temperature, but it doesnt detract from the unique hops and mint at the end of this. high summer beer right here, smartly conceived, these guys are doing some really cool stuff and we had a great time in here, brief as it was!
