massively unique and unassuming take on berliner here, i loved this one, the first i have ever had or seen from these guys, praying already its not the last, really a heck of a beer! not just a berliner, its done with strawberries, raspberries, rose petal tea, and hallertau blanc and willamette hops of all things, whoa! i adored this, as did my wife. very active from the little bottle, racing large bubble carbonation and a lightly cloudy muted pink tone, sort of a soda look about it really, aroma is so cool, tart and lactic and lemony and wheaty, light still despite the extra elements, its a berliner at its core, but i do get the sweet red fruits, the floral enlivening rose aspect, and some clever hop character that fits in nicely, some funk here too, lots of citrus, subtle sweetness, very complex but also positively cohesive, love how much of the rose is there, and it comes out more and more as this sits out a bit. the flavor is wonderful too, tart all the way, red berries obvious, a little more strawberry than raspberry, so cool with the red rose aspect, really almost sensual, love the hops too, subtle pine and rosemary or something, as well as a softer botanical component that adds a lot of life to this. there is some sweetness from the fruit earlier on but its dry overall, vinous in the middle, sharper at the end without being so sour i dont want to drink a bunch of it, fairly clean in that regard, but there is some cool almost farmhouse weirdness too that i really like, subtly super complex on the ferment actually. the bottom inch or so of this bottle is chalky with sediment, but the flavor of that swig is epic, total rose bomb, amazing how much of that is in this little portion of the beer, makes me appreciate it in the rest of the bottle even more as well, a cool ingredient really nicely deployed. a very unique take on berliner, the fruit, the hops, the rose, the yeasts, all come together so well. fizzy and poppy and drinkable, relatively light bodied, summery and fun, exotic and great, need to track down more from this new to me operation!
