Clear dark amber with an off-white foam to the top of the tall glass and still sticking after several minutes. Sudsy but over-carbonated in the mouth. The taste is rather sweet, as you might expect, and very fruity. The finish is just like a Maibock with that hard to describe estery taste. Moderately bitter and woody aftertaste. More caramel flavor than roasted malt. This is interesting, though weirdly tasting like grapes and apples with a root beer chaser. From the 500 ml bottle. "Best by 29.08.25."

The beer has a nice dark brown hue and is incredibly opaque in the glass, yielding a pretty neat look. However, the head dissipates pretty quickly. The smell is unremarkable, but the beer makes up for it with a nice malty taste with hints of banana and brown sugar. It doesn't really stay in the mouth, but it remains kinda heavy in the back of the mouth. Overall it's a good but not great beer. Would have again but only in the right context.

Best by 12/16/20.Pours a dull slightly hazed russet brown with a huge blooming off white head that leaves multiple broken rings of lace behind as it settles very slowly into a frothy mass.Mild caramel comes thru in the nose along with underlying banana and phenolic spice, subdued nose.Pretty slick in the mouth, goes down pretty easy.A tinge of mineral followed by some toasted wheat malt up front on the palate,a bit of caramel and clove into the finish. Not one of the top home grown German imports of the style but glad to give it a try.

First I'm surprised that a beer that has been around for a while has only been rated once here, odd!
Purchased and opened today (Jun 10, 2017) - Bottle has a date stamp of 09.04.16, which is either Sept 4 or Apr 9 - you never know with the Europeans, i'm guessing its April making the bottle over a year old.
L - It's beautiful, poured into a snifter and rich ruby/brown color, nice and clear, just very dark. The tan head stays around for a while, and lacing is prominent for several minutes then slowly drifts away.
S - Not getting much that I can distinguish on the nose, which is why the rating is lowest for this category.
T - Malts coming through as dominant, some banana, brown sugar flavors are present, very modestly balanced with evidence of the abv.
F - Crisp, carbonation is proper, this does not annoy the tongue in any way.
O - I quite enjoyed this bottle, it did not blow me away, won't chase after it, but yeah.... Cheers!

It pours a very murky amber brown, with an off white head that dissipates to nothing in no time flat. It is an ugly beer! It smells of banana, clove, and burnt caramel sugar. It tastes the same. It's rich, and bubbly, and smooth, but no longer a favorite of mine. Prost!
