Sweet, grainy, cereal notes with strong caramel flavor with hints of chocolate. Light and easy drinking.

Pours a dark amber brown color, opaque in the glass; no real head per se, just a thin, wispy ring of light foam around the inner circumference of the glass with sparse patches of foam floating in the middle. A fair yet unremarkable smell; rather faint; dark malt notes with a hint of char; suggestion of bitter chocolate. Rich but gentle sweetness greets the palate; milk and bitter chocolate flavors; nuanced sense of tobacco and leather; very little bitterness. Heavy body; rich and silky; slippery on the palate.

Initial impressions based on look and smell weren't very promising, but the taste really changed that opinion. As the beer warmed and opened, even the aroma blossomed. Definitely worth having more than one.
