Grabbed a pint can at brew pub in Boerne, TX.
Allowed to sit out from fridge; drank it cool not cold.
Nice deep dark look with decent if slightly bubbly vs creamy head. Settled as halo, but consistent with high octane abv.
Nose was a bit restrained but still present and showed malt and hops.
Taste was a nice medium roast Imp stout. Nice touches of chocolate. A very slight off taste - bitter/cloying. But as it aired any off taste shifted to a more complex old ale like flavor. Overall an enjoyable chocolate enhanced Imp stout.
Body was a bit bright carbonation wise, but still had a nice smooth body.
My initial reaction was “good try”, but as I drank it over 15-20 minutes it really came out as a nicely made stout. I would definitely have another.
