classic and outstanding, maybe the best example of this style i had on my recent trip to scotland, and i had a few. its frothy and texturally fantastic, which is a big thing in this style for me, its malty and simple, smooth and well fermented, sneakily robust for its lower abv, lots to like here, and i was impressed with the beers i had from these guys, seems like an absolutely awesome operation. light haze in thie mahogany colored brew, high almost pure white head in nice contrast, lovely retention and lace to this, and great carbonation in a style that can run a little slower on that sometimes. the nose is malt before hops, decidedly english, maris otter type malt with honey and molasses to it, toasted warmth, and somewhat nutty, along with an english ale yeast profile thats mineral forward and fresh, modest hop bitterness but balance is the name of the game here and the flavor is right there with the aroma, bready and rich without being too sweet or heavy, great minerality and even a sort of terroir element to it, lovely fermentation profile that gets every so slightly and appropriately astringent for a second on the swallow, raisin and fig, very fresh overall, herbal rather than aggressively bitter from the hops, but it is the last thing i taste here, wet concrete, bread dough, light spice. very good example of this style, could drink this all day long starting in the morning. nothing but love for what simple things is doing!
