Dark brown with rich malt flavors, this double decocted lager has flavors of toffee and a touch dark chocolate, with a light finish. Rich, toasted malt, full-bodied.

On Lukr tap at Cohesion Brewing in Denver, CO.

This one pours a fairly dark brown color, with a small head, and a nice bit of lacing.

There’s dark chocolate and toffee on the nose, with a nice roastiness.

This is easily one of the best dark lagers I’ve had made in the United States. There’s some light bitterness to it, but it’s mostly milk chocolate, toffee, and roasted malt goodness. It’s just a super clean and creamy expression of malt excellence in a lager package.

This is light bodied, very creamy, and super drinkable.

Dark lager in general is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, styles, and it doesn’t get much better than this.

L: Pours a dark brown with hints of dark mahogany red where the light hits it, with a strong foamy head and lots of thick lacing around the glass.

S: Dark roasted malt, hints of toffee and chocolate, a light hop.

T: Starts with sweet malt, including toffee and chocolate, some dark toasted bread and a light hop, very drinkable dark Czech beer.

F: Full bodied, and easy drinking beer.

O: This is a very nice dark Czech beer.

This was the best beer I had here, and it wasn't close. You could have called this a porter and I would have believed it. It's full of flavor, and at 5.1% it doesn't overwhelm you. Lots of malt and chocolate flavor, coupled with just a touch of coffee, but not heavy at all. This should be their flagship beer, and if word ever gets out about this one, they'll have a hit on their hands. I liked everything I tried here, but this was the clear standout for me.

Pours black with dark brown lighting up around the edges. Two fingers of khaki foam with good retention. Aroma is malt forward, with notes of toasty, crackers, biscuits, and earth coming thru. Grassy hops round it out. Nice emphasis on the malts, giving it a dry undertone. Flavor profile is toasty, roasty, and biscuity malts with bits of chocolate, caramel, and fig in the mix. Earthy hops round it out. Again, pleasant dryness without being overly heavy. It's got 'dark' notes without being heavy. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a creamy, smooth texture. Overall, "big time great" (in my notes). Great roasty qualities packed into a lightweight body that makes it ultra crushable.

Draft. Reviewed from notes.

Had on lukr tap. The darkest brown can get in the body, very full soft tan head with spotted lacing. Taste is a deeper version of the smell: rich dark malts with notes of caramel, earth, toffee, dark chocolate, and toast. The sweetness is more lush in the taste too. Body is malty and full, with almost rich edges to lush yet smooth and drinkable depths. Best tmave I have had to date.
