Světlý ležák (Pale Lager)

Our collaboration with Hop Butcher for the World (Chicago, IL) features Polish Lubelski hops, a mash hop Saaz addition to amplify the noble hop flavors, and a touch of wheat malt. Black tea, balanced bitterness, light floral.

Pours a dark orange with a fairly heavy level of fog to the transparency. It simply glows in direct sunlight. Head is two fingers of white foam with great retention. Aroma is crackers, wafers, and biscuits with resin and citrus hops behind. There is a twinge of raw grain at the back, which is the only distracting note in the mix. Flavor profile is more hop forward, leading out with tropical fruits, citrus, resin, and herbal hops. Crackery, wafery, and biscuity malts close things out for a semi-dry finish. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a light creaminess that's only distracted by a light bubbly, fluffy effervescence. Overall, the more American NE IPA typical hops pair up well, if just a little odd, with this traditional style lager. A fun sipper with a little more novelty than much of Cohesion's flagship lineup. Whether or not that is favorable for you may remain to be seen, but it makes for a good 'bridge' between NE IPAs and Czech Lagers.

Had on lukr tap. Cloudy dirty golden body with two fingers of white foam, moderate lacing. Old world hops star in the nose, particularly in an earthy way, pale yeast, cracker, and a hint of flowers round out. Taste is much the same, hops and yeast are the clear stars. Feel is mildly bitter and dry, generally pale and light but has a full smoothness despite decent carbonation.
