Very dark brown with clear dark red edges under a fine but creamy tan blanket.
Uniquely rich and deep, the expression is diametrically opposed to the typical oud bruin, being only faintly tart, barely even acidic really, and not even harsh even in light of the uncharacteristically high ABV.
Taste is almost like caramelized fig with hints of coffee, Reisen and dark cherry. Having spent 18 months in oak, it finishes pleasantly dry with mild tannins and faint char, as well as a little earthiness coming just shy of mushroom. Plum and peppery red wine further accent as it warms.
This is a very promising start with wood fermented and aged beer before their separate endeavor at Woodshop begins firing on all cylinders.
