Received as a birthday gift in August 2022 and drunk shortly thereafter.
L: Light, but mildly fluoro yellow. Hazy. Bright white head that reduces to a thin cover. No evident carbonation. Thick lacing. Ticking all the NEIPA boxes so far.
S: Smells like a hotel buffet's tropical breakfast Juice. There's mango, orange, and papaya. Another NEIPA tick.
T: The tropical juice suggestion on the nose is maintained in the mouth, so it's off to a great start here too. But then the spicy, piney hops (which I since realise is a mouthful-of-shampoo taste) come to the fore and topple into diesel territory. Hop burn now joins the party and is clearly present after the swallow and lingering on the tongue. Marking down as a result. Unfortunately, this is a more and more common box that NEIPAs tick as well.
F: Quite a deal more prickly on the tongue than expected, presumably due to the dry hopping.
O: This is ultimately disappointing. It's a pretty-looking beer that ticks all the hazy boxes in appearance and aroma, but suffers from too many hop resins pushing the beer into unnecessary shampoo, diesel, and hop burn territory.
Cheers!
