New World hops give this beer a juicy, citrusy kick with the haze we all love, while a smooth mouthfeel gives way to a clean, dry finish. Scenic Route's low-key ABV is perfect for when you want to slow down and take in the view.

From the Boozebud Advent Calendar 2022, day 3.

L: Pineapple-juice yellow with a fluffy, quickly disappearing head. No carbonation is visible in the glass.

S: Soft, almost chalky, tropical fruit, especially redolent of guava with white peach, white nectarine and pineapple.

T: As with most hazies the taste closely follows the nose, with the only obvious difference being the white peach is more prominent compared to what was being picked up in the nose. The finish is long and not as washed out or watery as some session beers - that said, this one is cheating the session a little by weighing in at 4% whereas most Aussie session beers stick to 3.5%, so it's always going to have more body. I'm tempted to mark them down .25 for being cheeky...

M: Again, I think this one is cheating the session label, and as such, the mouthfeel is fuller than other session beers. Hazies also have the benefit of likely having some oat or other body-producing grain in the grist, so you'd expect them to be fuller than other session beers (but I've had some watery session hazies too!).

O: This is pretty good for a session beer and as I've moaned before, I see no reason at all why Australia's best-selling beer, which is a macro session beer with little going for it other than an ability to nail the everyman Aussie palate, would ever be bought over this one. But then I'm not the market for that beer and no amount of moaning on my part will change its status!

Cheers!
