Pours a clear, dark brown hue, appears clear with a rich mahogany red color in the glass; great carbonation; thick, frothy, lasting head, khaki colored with sticky, spidery webs of foam inside the glass. Good even-keel malt nose; subtle caramel presence. Wonderful taste; moderate grain roast with hints of roasted nuts and lightly charred toffee; nice, balanced bitterness offsets the malt sweetness. Medium-heavy body with a twinge of raspiness to the palate; somewhat dry overall yet also mildly sticky; full, rounded mouthfeel.
This is a superb malt-forward beer, rich and robust; very satisfying.
