Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a light to medium golden amber with a two finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of pale and lightly caramel malt, dank and tropical fruit hops, mixed tropical fruit, hints of citrus and some dankness. Flavor is pale malt, tropical fruit and citrus hops, grapefruit, bubblegum mixed fruit, vague tropical fruit and white grapes, a little dankness and solid citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A pleasant IPA with a solid alpha oil bitterness and citrus rind aftertaste. Not really a West Coast style in the traditional sense; although good bitterness, there is only light pine and a little grapefruit citrus. In fact the hop profile is very much Southern Hemisphere with it's light fruit and tropical notes, which makes sense since this is single hopped with Enigma. Some hop softness like tropical fruit hopped ales. I think "West Coast IPA" may be becoming synonymous with "not NE style IPA", which is nearly true here. That aside, as a single hop ale it's quite winning, with good flavor transitions and a great bitter finish. I'm not a huge fan of down under hops, but I like this one.
