In a dark industrial district and just a few blocks away from Gathering Place, Amorphic Beer is one of several newer breweries to have opened shop in Milwaukee post-pandemic. At night, there’s ample parking on the street as well as at the property, and despite a desolate feel in the neighborhood, the inside was buzzing. An “L” shaped bar anchors the place. In a separate room is the Brewhouse which looks like it could hold an overflow crowd. A combination of high tables, picnic tables, and a long counter create the complexion of the taproom. The decor goes all over the place from brick walls to vines growing from small pots high above and old Bingo displays found around the crannies of the taproom.

Tap list is very respectable with 12 taps, all house beer and hitting styles going from Czech Dark Lager and Hazy IPA, to less common styles such as a Brett saison and barrel aged Imperial Porter and Stout, to the very uncommon coffee lager. Pour size, alcohol volume, and price are posted on a screen above at the end of the bar, with additional listings for snacks, beer to go (various 4-packs are available), and non-alcoholic beverages.

The beer itself does distinguish itself enough from the crowd and is quite tasty. Also adding to the Amorphic experience is use of glassware; six different pieces of glassware (excluding the smaller “beaker” pour) ready to be used and very clean. Bartender is quite talkative as well and made me excited to have a taste of their 2024 Infinite Measure.

I like what I saw and tasted. Amorphic deserves a look.
