I stopped in at Wheelie Pop last weekend to check out the (relatively) new kid on the block in Ballard. They had 11 beers on tap, including 3 IPAs, a helles, an Italian pilsner and a "Northwest" pilsner, Japanese rice lager, hefeweizen, stout, mango ale, and a pale A good variety of lagers! The rice lager was really good, probably the best I've had of the style, and the hazy IPA was no slouch either; overall I was impressed with the beer quality. The beers I had were served in glassware marking the fill volume, with room for head on top -- I'd love to see more of this out there!
The taproom feels new and clean; the vibe is industrial-ish but welcoming, and they've got a nice patio as well. The taproom shares the space with the brewery - tanks right out in the open - which I like. They seem to have kind of an auto racing theme going on, with racing on the TV and racing numbers on the fermenters and whatnot. Service was quick and friendly, although it wasn't too busy when I was there.
