spot on northwest ipa from a florida brewer? uncommon but im into it. this is my first from these guys, but its good enough im praying it wont be my last. quality top to bottom here, old school a little bit, nice and bitter, balanced by actual crystal malt, still dry and clean on the ferment, and the freshness is there, really nice can of beer here, impressive introduction for me! light amber color on it, churning frothing just off white head, nice retention in my cup, smells almost one note on the hops side, pine, maybe green pine cone, spruce needles, and some essential oil soap my wife used to make for me, but this is pine pure and simple, could be simcoe, cascade, centennial, or some similar mix, light woodiness to it, mellow spice perhaps too, tea-like but bold, bitter, and pretty heavy handed without being harsh. the flavor is perhaps slightly more complex, orange and mango fruitiness in the mix, maybe some weed too, a dank and sticky thing, oily too, but its not heavy and it doesnt have long linger, i think the malt balances this perfectly, its strength is right on for its robustness, approaching that double ipa flavor and texture, so the alcohol matches here, and its so clean on the ferment, very professional. resinous and bitter, honey maybe even toffee richness to the grain but its gone at the end, fuller medium body. this really is doing it for me, kind of how ipa used to be, i love it being bitter like this, and strong. very good.
