Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 4/2/23. This is a coffee brown ale with lactose.
Appearance: light nut-brown hue with a light haze and a thick finger of frothy tan foam atop. Looking good.
Smell: there's a little malt, but mostly what's here is coffee, sweetness, and a little bit of a creamy aroma. The can says this is inspired by iced coffee, and I definitely believe it. I like that the coffee comes through without too much of the vegetal green character that so many coffee beers have.
Taste: wow, there's a ton of coffee in this. Same as in the aroma, the coffee is rich and flavorful without being too harsh or vegetal. The lactose is nice to a point, although I wouldn't complain if they pared back the sweetness a little bit. Still, as a desert beer, it's quite nice.
Mouthfeel: medium-light body with an almost grainy character that in my mind I always attribute to lactose. Not as creamy as I'd like, but not bad.
Overall: this is a tasty treat, if a bit of a sweet one. If sweeter beers are your thing, then this will be right up your alley.
