Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 8/14/22; this is a "modern West Coast IPA" according to the label.
Appearance: medium golden hue with lots of haze like a NEIPA, along with a thick finger of frothy ivory foam. OK, rather hazier than a traditional WCIPA, but since it's "modern" I will give it a pass. Pretty!
Smell: aroma is rich, piney, dank, grapefruity, and with a moderately sweet malt backbone. Really, really well composed -- the malt of a WCIPA is there, but the dank juiciness is all New England. I like it a lot.
Taste: malt is a little sweet, befitting its highish ABV, and the hop flavors are excellent. Bitterness is moderate but definitely higher than a typical hazy; it's very true to the West Coast roots but with a modern take on those roots. Quite good indeed.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a well-integrated carbonation and quite a good creaminess.
Overall: this beer just plain tickles my fancy. Excellent.
