Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned on 10/23/23.
Appearance: medium golden-yellow hue with just a little dash of haze and a finger of frothy eggshell foam.
Smell: tropical and a little bit dank with a huge dose of passionfruit aroma. You can tell it uses thiolized yeast the moment you open the can. I happen to like it, but it might not be for everyone.
Taste: sweet up front, with a little bit of what I perceive as graininess. The grapes come through as a lightly fruity, vinous quality. The passionfruit bomb of the aroma is significantly pared back in the flavor, though, which is nice — it lets you taste the other things going on here. There’s bitterness, but it’s almost non-IPA-like in its unusual flavor profile.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a moderate carbonation and decent creaminess.
Overall: this is an interesting, and certainly a novel, beer. I might not call it an everyday drinker for me, but it’s unique, and I’m glad I tried it.
