Our modernized take on the classic American Brown Ale boasts layers of nutty, lightly roasted malt balanced by a punchy citrus-forward hopping that unfolds to unveil layers of grapefruit pith, mandarin orange, resinous pine, and just a touch of dank cannabis.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 2/22/25.
Appearance: nice dark-brown hue with a light haze that lets some dark-amber light through when held up to the light. Head is two fingers of pillowy tan foam with a light amber cast. Plenty of head retention, too — this one’s quite pretty.
Smell: toasty, nutty malt aroma, with a rather lemon-forward citrusy hop character. Not too bad, although the hops come through with a bit of a vegetal quality that’s not ideal.
Taste: malt’s a bit on the sweet side, with those lemony hops in the mix for sure. Some toastiness and some caramel round out the flavors … it’s kind of an odd one. I do like those lemony hops, but even so, this combination doesn’t entirely work for me.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: it seems like a well-made beer, but the flavor profile is not one I would have gone with.
