my first from this brewery, need to check them out next time i am in seattle. this is a very impressive massive hazy ipa with fresh citra hops, a special version of their regular triple ipa, we dont see wet hops in these bigger ones all that often, and this intrigued me right away. orange juicy looking with a fair bit of haziness and an inch of airy white head in contrast, not as heavy looking as some at this strength. the aroma is insanely fresh, early starting and pungent right away, cantaloupe, orange hard candy, fruity new school weed, concentrated and unique, a whole lot of unique hop layers here, especially for citra, which can sometimes be a little one dimensional, but this is anything but, wildly interesting, fruit forward, freshness is real obvious, tangerine and its zest, floral honey, resin and some woodsy character too, awesome. its all there in the taste, no falloff from the nose at all. there is likely more than citra in this, and this has me eager to try the original too, like how much does the fresh hops transform this? is the original this good too? its killer beer with just enough bitterness but also some mid palate sweetness that really accentuates the fruity side of the hops, leaning tropical with a mango note, but lots and lots of citrus, high intensity for citra in my experience, but this doesnt present as forced or oversaturated or anything, has a sort of cryo level potency, wonder if there may be a hop product in here as enhancement. either way, the alcohol also kind of brings out a certain hop punch, like it extracts additional volatiles that makes this what it is, i dont mind the strength at all, they call it a triple for heck sake, should be expected right? medium body, soft feeling, nice grain texture without it being too dense, lemongrass and actual grass at the end, terpene type pop, bold and delicious, striking even, a lovely beer overall and a killer first impression for me of this brewery!
