Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 3/5/26.
Appearance: basically black but with some highlights of brown around the edges when held up to the light. Head is a thick finger of frothy dark-tan foam.
Smell: there’s a little bit of caramel, which reads as sweet, and a bit of roast, which reads as try. Besides that the aroma is very … well, malt-ey. It’s understated, and balanced, and I like it.
Taste: there’s not too much sweetness to the malt, and a fair amount of roastiness. At first I thought there was a bit too much bitterness in the mix, but on further review I think not. It’s a tasty and well-balanced example of the style.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: a good example of a dry stout. It really strikes a good balance and at 4.6%, you can drink this all night.
