Blauer Tapir

Pours a hazy, golden amber coloration with a large, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of biscuity, slightly grainy malt and citrus hops, with notes of grapefruit and tangerine, as well as just a hint of pine coming through as well. Taste is a great balance of fruity, bitter, floral and slightly resinous hops, with citrus and much lighter tropical notes of grapefruit, tangerine and lychee, as well as just a hint of potpourri and pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This makes for a nice Pale Ale that sits somewhere inbetween old and new school. It's bitter and resinous, but also fruity and a little floral. A little too floral for my personal taste actually, that certain potpourri note isn't really for me. Nevertheless, this makes for an enjoyable, easy-drinking and refreshing Pale Ale with a good bitterness, mouthfeel and overall balance.
