Blauer Tapir

Pours a cloudy, golden amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity malt and tropical/citrus hops, with vague notes of mango and tangerine. Taste is a decent balance of biscuity malt and fruity, grassy, slightly spicy hops, with tropical and citrus notes of mango and tangerine, as well as just a hint of black pepper. Finishes with a light bitterness and some mango and tangerine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

While this makes for a decent IPA overall, it really lacks all of the properties that a New England IPA is supposed to have, meaning that it's neither particularly hazy, juicy nor full in mouthfeel. There are some nice tropical and citrus notes to this, but they really aren't especially vibrant or juicy, making this a pretty big disappointment for the style. I found their Pale Ale to be much more enjoyable. Also, I gotta say that Spalter Select are probably not a great choice of hops for a NEIPA.
