Cashmere hops take center stage with a strong character of melon and tangerine in this west coast style IPA (read: bitter IPA! This is not a NE Hazy IPA here). Lesser additions of Idaho 7, El Dorado, and Citra add complexity by imparting tropical fruit notes, and some light piney/resinous notes from the Idaho 7.

Rather creamy white head. Nearly clear, medium amber appearance. Quite a mixed fruit salad and floral scent with pine needles and some tangerine peel, for the aroma. A good mixed citrus peel bite with a slight spiced floral character, on the moderately toasted malt base.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. No canning date, but I picked this up at the brewery about 4 days ago.
Appearance: medium orange hue with a moderate haze and a finger of ivory foam atop.
Smell: it jumped out at me right when I opened the can! Big, bright orange aroma of hops, plus an appropriate level of malt sweetness balancing it. Maybe a little one-note, but a well-executed note.
Taste: moderately sweet malt, topped with brightly orangey hops with a slightly herbal and dank finish. Not as bitter as a WCIPA, not as sweet and fruity as a NEIPA … it walks a middle line that I’m really a fan of here. Good stuff!
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: this beer rubs me the right way. I gotta say, it’s definitely my favorite beer I’ve had from El Sueñito, but I admit I haven’t really explored their IPAs. Gonna have to fix that!

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, medium golden amber with a one finger white head that dissipates to patches with slight lacing. Aroma of pale malt, citrus and piney hops, orange, pine and mild mixed fruit. Flavor is pale malt, piney and citrus hops, fresh pine, grapefruit, orange and a little mixed tropical and light stone fruit. Solid bitterness and lightly resinous pine in the finish. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I had high hopes for this after reading their description of "bitter IPA! This is not a NE Hazy IPA here". I was not disappointed. Although the hop bill seemed a little busy, it was full of great pine flavors and good citrus. Mild mixed fruit esters waft throughout the taste. A great finish with lingering alpha oils and pine. I was a bit underwhelmed on the first taste, but the hop bill really grew on me as I drank this and I was sorry it was only a 12oz can when it was gone. I'll be visiting this one again.
