Fantasmas is an Imperial Stout - a divine, dark offering brewed for Día de los Muertos. Roasted malt and whispers of coffee and chocolate rise like prayers from the glass, honoring the holy spirits that linger and the living who remember. Holy, heavy, and full of soul.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a half finger chocolate head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bakers chocolate, coffee, dark dried stone fruit. Flavor is dark toasted malt with moderate char, bakers chocolate, drip coffee and dried plums. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A new imperial stout from this brewery that has good chocolate and coffee character as promised in the description, but also some pleasant dried plum and dark dried fruit notes that add to the flavor profile. In fact, the flavor is reminiscent of a beefed up Baltic porter, which is an interesting variation on the style. Somewhat light in body for the size of the stout, but full of interesting and dark malt flavor. Nicely done.
