my second from this brewery, 2023 vintage, rad blended wild ale with plums and a touch of apricot, very sour at this point, wonder if it always was, but unique and fun and exciting, this brewery surely has my attention now. pinkish reddish orange hued, bubbly to drink but with just a short head in the glass, a tad unrefined looking with some haze and a lot of body in a style space i tend to prefer when its a bit more delicate, but its wheaty and hearty and distinctive anyway, very rustic indeed. the nose is woody in a unique way red wine tannins, oak vanilla character, and even like an aromatic cedar aspect or something, really cool, strong and forward in this, plum has tartness along with a high bacterial element, lemon and orange fruitiness supporting, a generic red berry thing to the plums, very subtle apricot and marmalade sweetness but the apricot is there, very authentic on the fruit, fermented out quite a lot, but there still, some funk too but this is sour first. the flavor is similar, lots of wood, tannins, acetic sharpness, and a cool mix of fruit nuances, love the little bit of fleshy apricot with the tart plum, nicely done there. i can taste and feel some wheat malt, earthy and grounded and pretty sturdy really, some light saison spice coming out of the ferment as it warms too, more peachy and candied sweetness too, orange peel, lovely. i like the wild side of this and could stand less of the acid, im sure time has something to do with these proportions, i bet this was absurd when it was fresher and maybe less sharp. still drinking nice though, a fun and presumably rare one to get into at this point, a joy to share with a homie i see less than i wish i did now, will buy all i see from this operation moving forward...
