bloody good beer this. for a lager in this region, this brew puts most others to shame. its tasty, clean, and incredibly drinkable.

slightly cloudy in its golden color, with a reasonably robust head and spritzy bubble action. has a sweetish, fruity nose with hints of malt. taste is more malty than the smell, combined with a citrusy zest and decent hop presence. again, as with most NZ micros, its distinctive in its cleanliness and drinkability. its not particularly complex. but if youre wanting a solid, easy to drink yet satisfying lager for those hot summer days, macs reserve lager does the job with ease.

i necked a few of these with relish. they went down so easy, but i felt i was getting a decent brew across the board all the while. for a southern hemisphere lager, this is the sort of thing youd want to be drinking while others are resorting to the standard crappy macros.

On the pour a slightly hazy gold color with a magnificent head and oodles of fine lace. Malt pervades the nose that is also crisp and clean. Start is lightly sweet, the top skimpy, the finish is sparsely hopped, middling on the carbonation, dry lingering aftertaste. Summertime Beer? when itÂ’s a 115 degrees Fahrenheit here in Arizona, me thinks it could be, a decent drinking beer.

A drinkable brew, slightly creamy mouthfeel, sweet at the start and slight bitter finish, a beer you could drink all night, nothing exceptional.
