Made with a traditional Scottish Ale yeast, this beer is sweet, strong, and rich, while maintaining an extremely balanced character.

A- opaque body with off white head of foam. Cake like layers on the sides. A good dark look

S- good surge of roasted malt with a splash of chocolate. While not over powering, there is a mild smokey presence that partners with the flavors

T- the toasted malt is paired well some brown sugar substance

M- carbonation and flavor is spot on

O- very drinkable and even sessionable. There is no blast of alcohol and dark malt. A good empire brew

Had a sample before I decided to get the growler. First whiff, I knew I was bringing this one home that night. I put this one into a nonic, where it should be. First look I see rich amber outlines with a dark as night body. Half finger dark khaki head dies down quickly to a thin layer of bubbles. Stickiness is pretty limited, but it leaves its mark here and there. Smell is to die for. Dark creamy caramel scent with a huge cappuccino presence. Sweet and buttery, with a hint of alcohol from the scotch. Vanilla and oak aromas arise as well. Flavor is one of a kind, creamy mocha with a caramel tingle. Coffee flavors arrive with a molasses sweeteness midway. Woody hazelnut aftertaste that leaves you in enjoyment. Full bodied creamy mouthfeel that has just about nothing in the carbonation department. I could probably put this one down easier with less of a scotch flavor, but I still had no problem with it. So glad this brewery is in Syracuse. Mint Chocolate Stout next?...oh yes, you better believe it.
