A unique beer--a cross between a Belgian farmhouse ale and a Belgian tripel. Tart like a farmhouse ale, sweet and strong like a tripel.

I had this beer at BCTC 09. They had lightly oak-aged this beer for the festival and it came out wonderfully.
The second-gen oaking smoothed over the fruity flavors and rounded out the sweetness to create the only beer to surprise me at this years BCTC.
This is highly reccomended (especially if you find it oaked.)

Had this on cask at Clark's Ale House's Cask Ale Fest/ Peoples Real Ale Festival. This came highly reccomended by the servers.
Poured a cloudy golden yellow with a thin covering of bubbly white head.
Smells of light malt, spice, and very fruity. Citrus notes are very dominant, particularly grapefruit.
Taste is very sweet, grapefruit dominates again with twangy afternotes of belgian yeast and light malt.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, syrupy and tart.
Drinkability is average. I could drink this but only as a desert beer and only on occasion.

Stopped by Empire last night for a beer and was excited to try this when I checked the website earlier in the day. Sadly, I was disappointed...
First, this was served in a standard pint glass which I found rather odd. Even the half pints would have been better than a regular pint glass. It was a hazy orange/gold color with only a thin head to start and barely a thin lace after that.
Smell was quite weak and not all that attractive. Had some orange zest, soggy wheat and a light sweetness. It was a struggle to get much.
Taste was quite tart, with zesty orange and lemon flavor. It was also quite sweet and somewhat cloying at that. Some musty yeast flavor with a little bit of bitterness in the finish.
Mouthfeel was a bit spritzy but it actually worked well with the tartness of the beer. Medium to full body.
Overall this was weird and disappointing. Yeast strain doesn't seem very interesting and I'm not sure how much of the tartness even came from the yeast. I would say this needs some work. Not their best beer by any means.

Had this beer on tap at the Belgium Comes to Cooperstown and it was awesome.
The beer pours a nice cloudy gold and smells fruity, but not too fruity. Taste was delicious. I had this multiple times throughout the day. Very drinkable and a great tasting beer.

Tripel/Saison Hybrid
The beer pours a cloudy gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a very tart and fruity scent along with a slight earthiness. The taste is good. It has a nice pale and Munich malt flavor along with a tart, yeasty finish. The 9.5% abv. is well hidden as it drinks quite smooth. It has an earthy farmhouse feel in the finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This was going to be a triple, but the yeast altered the result. The finished product was very good. Interesting and complex with lots of esters.
