Castle Island Brewing - South Boston

This is a very inclusive place to be. The beer is good, the staff is great, and the food keeps you from drinking without eating. It is truly a place that takes “everyone” into account with good beer.

 

Located just off busy Dorchester Avenue in South Boston, this is a cavernous old bus garage. There’s outdoor seating as well as a copper-topped, 40 foot bar. In one corner is Castle Island swag. In the opposite corner it’s an open air kitchen.

The brewer menu features six year-round beers and 14 rotating beers. All but one are lighter colored beers. Mostly (India) Pale Ales, but there are some sours.

Pizza is the featured food here. Sandwiches, wings, and salads round out the offerings. I had pizza and it was very good.

This is a huge place considering there’s not a lot of parking and very little for traffic. It’s worth a small side trip to check it out.
