Our first release is a Czech dark lager brewed with predominantly Czech ingredients. We begin with a mash of Czech pilsner malt and specialty dark malts from Epiphany Maltsters. We then incrementally hopped with Czech Saaz bringing it to a moderate 32 IBU and fermented with a Czech lager strain from Jasper Yeast.

Pours a dark brown color with a minimal head that disappears quickly. Aroma of dark fruits and roasted malts. Taste is spicy with a slight bitterness at the finish.

man, there's just something funky about the look of this. it's not clear, but has a milky-dark look to the flow as it fills the glass. kind of a chestnut-color (did i get that right?) with the typical adjunct aroma which usually does not bode well for the next ten minutes. upon the first fill in the mouth i get a smokiness i really do not like and a thickerness than the clear dark lagers i am accostomed to, and much prefer. no description whatsoever on the can which i feel it really needs since it's 'off the beaten path' (unless it were one of those smoothie-type things), and the beer suffers for it. cool label, but whatever. it's drinkable, but not something i will seek out again, especially at 4.3%

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
