Undated can poured into a tulip. Picked this up on a whim based on can, description (though minimal), and mood. Total dice role. And in this case, paid off nicely! (Though I’m still not sure who the actual brewer is. It doesn’t actually say on the label!)
This thing is a malty bitch! Starts on the pour, with a deep mahogany brown body and light khaki head of ice cream float foam. Gorgeous old school American IPA looks, all the way. Nice soapy lacing down the glass.
Deep, earthy malts and sharp pine resin on the nose, with big doses of grapefruit and other citrus juices, plus a little tropical fruit.
Taste follows with a lovely balance between sweet caramel malts and sharp pithy bitterness. Strong grapefruit, pine, and earthy dankness. Nice bitter bite late before a final wave of semi-sweetness. Exactly why you’re looking for in a big, bold, West Coast IPA (circa early 2010s).
Feel is luscious, coating, and slightly chewy. Wonderful bitter pith all over your teeth and tongue. Zero booze or heat. Very smooth.
Couldn’t tell you who makes this, but I can tell you I really like it!
