Typical cloudy appearance with adequate foam in the Stella Artois goblet. Slight aroma of apricots with a stronger yeasty smell. Something lingers in the nose that takes it into an unpleasant realm. The spice flavor comes through strong with that fruity taste. Watery body with a modest spritz. Overall this tastes like grain with a raw edge and the persistent dishwatery fruit. It seems to taste more Belgian than German, with the bitter yeasty aftertaste fighting the malty sweetness on the lips. From the 16 oz can purchased on the West Coast. Nice photo of the interesting label.

Not a beer many can easily find and probably not something I’ll be looking for again. For a “Weiss” or white beer, Lady form Nost Brewing project leaves the consumer wanting more. However, overall it’s not a terrible selection for late summer or even mid autumn.

L. Typical average wheat beer look. The lacing is about average around the edge. I recommend a thisle or weizen shaped glass for this one. The head is well formed but not what I would expect from a German wheat beer. It seems to only slightly linger, again, leaving average lacing behind.

S. An overwhelming smell of ripe apricots and peach which adds to the better taste that many seem to comment on. Still, I often want notes of a deeper grain from a Hefeweizen beer that I’m not getting here. At room temperature, slight notes of clover can be sensed.

T. The notes of summer fruit such as peach come right out immediately. The tart taste was quite nice to be fair. In the end I wanted more flavor that I wasn’t getting from this drink.

A pretty basic American take on a German Hefeweizen. Poured from a 16 oz. can into an Aventinus Weizen glass, this beer is a moderately hazy pale yellow color with a medium sized bubbly white head. There is better than average head retention and patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma and taste include a fair amount of yeast and a little wheat bitterness. There is also a touch of cloves. the aroma and flavor are pleasant but very mild - certainly no comparison with the better German hefes. Mouthfeel is light with a little sweetness to go along with the wheat bitterness. An enjoyable enough summer brew, but not a great hefeweizen.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: light golden hue with a little bit of haze and a thin layer of frothy white foam atop.

Smell: nice wheatiness with plenty of banana and clove character. There's perhaps something a little tart going on there too, just a hint, but overall I quite like it.

Taste: a good banana-ey yeast flavor along with a light, soft, and sweet wheat character really combine very well here. A solid hefeweizen in the European mode.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and a nice creaminess.

Overall: a solid hefeweizen. Definitely worth checking out.

Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a hazy, medium golden yellow with a big 5 finger white head that dissipates slowly to a thin cap. Aroma of wheat malt, mixed grain, apple and clove. Flavor follows, with lightly grainy wheat malt, apple, a hint of banana and clove; slightly sweet but light tart in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess. Looks, aroma and taste are quite authentic. The flavor is a little thin and tapers off into the finish although the lingering flavors of wheat and clove are good. The light flavor is compensated by the nearly spot-on flavor balance that matches a good German hefe. I like the slight sweetness that balances the expected mild tartness of the style. A well brewed domestic take on the style.
