Scottish Double Oatmeal Stout. Brewed with two types of oats which make up over one quarter of the malt bill for this beer. Locally sourced Gloagburn farm rolled oats grown 22 miles from the brewery, and Golden Naked Oats from Simpsons malt, which are lightly caramelised providing a nutty creamy character. The combination of these with additions of chocolate malts and roasted barley, provides a beer with a silky mouthfeel, mellow chocolate and coffee notes.

Poured into a Reuben's Brew small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a quarter finger light khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, bakers chocolate, coffee and light nuts. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt with slight char, bakers chocolate, drip coffee and filberts; a slight wild yeast note in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess; nice mouth feel. A solid oatmeal stout from this Scottish brewery. Pleasant, balanced coffee and dry chocolate flavors and a hint of farmhouse yeast in the finish. Excellent creamy mouthfeel I expect from an oatmeal stout. This brewery talks a lot about brett and naturally yeasted brews, so I thought this might be wilder tasting. It does have a slight hint of unusual yeast, but only enough to be interesting. It is a straightforward integrated oatmeal stout hitting on all cylinders.
