my first from these guys, seeing their stuff around all of a sudden, all of it looks awesome and this will not be my last, a very impressive and quite heavy for its abv stout done with quality coffee from honduras, and lots of it, delicious and robust brew, really sick can art too, great quality and freshness, especially for something that came here from europe. obsidian black beer with high shine and no light coming in, fairly well frothed light brown head on top with big bubbles, looks tidy and rich. the aroma is wicked, tons of coffee, that natural process fruitiness, dry cocoa powder, but also a lot of supporting malt beyond just the roast, which is intense, and definitely darker to me than the coffee itself, the coffee hits more chocolate and middle, the roast later and more bitter, but there is caramel and toffee decadence in the middle which really highlights the coffee well and makes this seem a little sweet, light raisin, dark bread, and even vanilla, very interesting and appealing, wintery and cozy without being strong which is cool. the flavor is killer, coffee all through it, at times with a hint of smoke, at others quite fruity even with a red berry note up against all the roast, and the entire time packed with earthy chocolate character. love the malt layers on this, and while it is sweet and rich, a pint can is still an easy dose of this, palate coating flavor for sure and good body, but its not over the top. subtle caramel and vanilla, light bitterness late but no acidity apparent from the coffee, light yeasty character maybe english in nature, and real smoothed out and long, but also with good carbonation. really distinctive and delicious brew, the quality of the coffee is obvious and this was an impressive introduction to holy goat overall, cant wait to get into more of their stuff!
