It appears a hazy orange with a small off-white head.

It smells of nutty bread-like malts and citrusy hops. There is also a sweet smell to the beer.

It tastes of citrusy: orange like hops. I also get a bit of a malty nutty bread like flavor. There is also a bit of a caramel flavor. The beer ends with a bit of bitterness coupled with a bit of sweetness.

There is a low natural like carbonation. It has a smooth mouthfeel.

The drinkability is ok. It is a bit rough around the edges though so I could drink more than one but would choose to drink only one.

Overall this is an ok IPA but there is little to it. I also find it a bit too sweet for my taste. I suppose average for the style.

The menu boasts that this pale ale is “extra, extra hoppy”. That’s not exactly the descriptive that rushes to my mind. Something more along the lines of “casual neutrality” seems more fitting. Salmon Creek’s IPA beings with elegant visual appeal in the form of a customary gold body adorned with a smart head of creamy suds that plasters the glass with heavy, stratified lace. But the taste and aroma are tempered by an intrusive yeast presence that detracts from the hop structure I’m sure this beer would otherwise like to project.
