Nuclear Missletoe from TrAils to Ales. Purchased at brewery 28/06/22. $ 10.60 (Including tax)/22 oz waxed bottle ($ 0.482/oz). Stored at room temperature at brewpub and at 37 degrees at home. Reviewed 29/06/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated bottle. Served at 54.5 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King Snifter. Final temperature 56.4 degrees.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Medium Amber (SRM 12), clear.
Body – Amber Brown (SRM 18), murky and opaque. When rear-lite, translucent and red.
Head – Small (Maximum 0.5 cm, aggressive center pour), copper, high-density and fizzy, no retention, diminishing to NO bubble ring and no cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3 – Weak bourbon and weak maple syrup, with just a hint of malt. No hops, no yeast, no detectable walnuts.
Flavor – 2.75 – Begins with mild bourbon and some light maple flavor, but SOUR. No ethanol (10.5 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Fleeting gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3 – Medium, weakly syrupy, weak carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 2.75 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated personal container) The big decision here is whether to drain pour this or force the rest of the tenner down my gullet.
