Got in a BIF from OzzyLizard. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, no can dating. Pours dense black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with great retention and spotty soapy lacing. Moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas and flavors of big dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, dark bread/crust, smoke, charcoal; light molasses, raisin, tart fruit, wood, peppercorn, pine, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine/woody bitterness on the finish; with a light yeast tang/tartness. Full bodied creamy/silky malts; with lingering chalky roast and resinous hop drying after the finish. Very mildly acrid and astringent on the finish. A very rich experience that reminds me of some Russian Imperial Stout or English yeasty style characters. Plenty of dark roasted coffee presence and hop balance.

Bossa Nova from Trails to Ales. Purchased at Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA, 21/09/22. $ 4.00 (Including tax)/16 oz can ($ 0.25oz). In reefer at store, stored at 40 degrees at home. Reviewed 02/10/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Served at 49.8 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King Snifter. Final temperature 55.2 degrees.
Appearance – 3.
First pour – Amber Brown (SRM 18), clear.
Body – Black (SRM 40), opaque. Under direct light, same but precipitate obvious. When rear-lite, black, and opaque except at the edges.
Head – Average (Maximum two cm, aggressive center pour), khaki, high density, rapidly diminishing to a four mm crown and cap, fed by effervescence.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 3.25 – Iced coffee (Think McDonald’s). No hops, no malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.25 – Follows nose. No malt, no yeast, no hops. No ethanol (10 % ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. Moderate gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3 – Medium, creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3. (After deducting 0.25 point for undated can.) Think of a cup of moderately strong coffee that someone told you contained a shot of absolute alcohol.
