Sasquatch Smoothie from Trails to Ales. 16 fl oz can. Reviewed 11/06/25 (Review 3537). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Undated can. Purchased 07/06/25 from Franklin Beer, Franklin, PA. In reefer at distributor, stored at 37 degrees F at home. $ 3.50 (including tax)/ $ 0.219 per fl oz. Served at 40.0 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The (current) final temperature is 53.4 degrees F.
Appearance – 3
First pour – Sweet pink (SRM ?), clear.
Body – Flesh (SRM ?), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, poppy red and translucent.
Head – Huge (Maximum SEVEN cm, aggressive center pour). Shell pink, high density with a rocky top, average retention, dropping to a 0.7 cm crown and a complete cap.
Lacing – None
Aroma – 2 – Disgustingly strong perfume with pomegranate. No yeast, no alcohol, no malt.
Flavor – 2.5 – Cloying and perfumy. No malt, no hops. No alcohol (5.7 % ABV, according to the label). No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. No gastric warming.
Palate – 3 – Medium: syrupy: soft carbonation.
Style: Follows the loose style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 2.5 (After deducting 0.25 point for an undated can) Uncredited label artist. Not beer – not even a cream ale - some mildly alcoholic drink that should be served with an umbrella. Not a drain pour (yet) because I can’t believe how bad it is and I keep tasting it!
